Family Tradition

Our whole fam (My' mom's and her twin sis' fam) hear mass at Antipolo Church, known as the "National Shrine of the Virgin of Peace and Good Voyage," every year, during the month of May. Our purpose (this is what I have always believed since I was small is that we go there to thank the dear patron for the safe journey we had the past year and to ask for continued guidance and safe trip on the road and with each paths that we take on our lives.
The church has consecutive mass celebrations every hour for the whole day. We were fortunate to be on time for the 9am schedule. Numerous people go to Antipolo and it truly was always hard to get a seat inside the church.

We lit up candles and said a prayer for safe voyage.

After the mass, we did the much awaited buying of goodies such as "kasuy" (cashew nuts) and suman, which comes relatively cheap in this place. We got a great deal for only P300 for a kilo of freshly cooked cashew nuts. yum yum! We bought enough for the whole month...hehe...
